Hug Cardigan

The Hug Cardigan is inspired by a mother's hug to her child, first in childhood, when she hugged protectively, covering their back, being their support, and her arms covered their chest, touching their heart. Later, when her child grew so tall that her arms wrapped around them, and their head rested on the chest of the one she once protected.

It's a simple hug, without ulterior motives or strings attached, one of those that only give Love, one of those that calm and make you feel that everything will be okay.
It's a design meant to receive that special warmth that covers and embraces you.
The hug is represented both in the upper neckband that descends like a mother's arms crossing over the chest, and the colored stripes under the arms. All the difficulties of daily life, represented by the purl stitch stripes that fall over our shoulders, dissipate after these stripes and do not reappear.

Who doesn't want to feel that hug?
I invite you to share this meaningful project with me and receive this gesture of affection, comfort, and joy for our hearts.

Construction

Regarding techniques, it is developed with an i-cord edge strip, stockinette stitch, and i-cord, from which stitches will be picked up to transition to circular yoke construction, with invisible increases. The upper band, which will later be the button placket, is made with the Intarsia in the flat technique and will have a separating i-cord throughout its development, in addition to the edge i-cord.

Sizes:

Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4), (5, 6, 7, 8) correspond to 86 (91, 96, 101) (106, 111, 116, 122) cm around the chest circumference and 30 (32, 34, 36) (38, 41, 42, 43) cm arm circumference. The sizes represent the measurements of the finished and blocked garment, at the chest circumference. The design contemplates a positive ease of 15 to 40 cm, so the measurements you will observe in the sizes include it. You can use the indicated measurements to choose your size.

The history of your threads

In Chilean Patagonia, dedicated producers with over 30 years of experience produce this highest quality wool.

The sheep live on free-range pastures, which preserves the grasslands, and are free from animal cruelty. Our products are 100% Mulesing-free.

Our wool is hand-washed and spun on a small scale by expert natural fiber artisans in the city of Talca.

Then it continues its journey to Bagual, where it is dyed with ecological dyes

free of heavy metals to protect your skin, your loved ones, and the environment. Our vibrant colors enhance the texture and properties of these yarns in your garments.

Disclaimer

This is a semi-industrial product where multiple steps are done by hand. We want you to know that you might find small pieces of vegetable matter in your yarn, as well as a little bit of sand when you wind it. Both come from the Patagonian grasslands. (We told you these sheep like to rub themselves in sandbanks 🤭).

Our wool is spun in a semi-industrial mill, and you might find some irregularities in thickness and twist in your yarn. We like it; it gives identity and texture and makes each garment unique.

Your skeins are hand-dyed, resulting in semi-solid and variegated colors. We suggest buying all the skeins for your project at the same time and alternating skeins while knitting if you want to avoid pooling in your garments.
