Austral Sweater
Austral is inspired by the cold climate and the unique flora of Patagonia. An area where, with little human intervention, vegetation grows wild and strong. Its climate is arid and semi-desert, but it is combined with intense cold and wind that give rise to glaciers and imposing mountain ranges.
It is a raglan silhouette sweater with long sleeves and a V-neck. It is constructed from the neckline down and ends in a point, resembling the shape of a poncho, one of the most used garments to insulate from the cold in Patagonia. All sections of the sweater are knitted in the round.
This garment is warm, ideal for insulating from the cold. At the same time, it flatters the female figure since its V-shaped lines and forms lengthen the torso and narrow the waist.
Construction
It begins with a provisional cast-on to work the yoke, and once finished, the sleeve stitches are put on hold to continue with the body. Then, the stitches are picked up to continue with the sleeves, which are knitted tubularly. Finally, the garment is finished by picking up the stitches from the provisional cast-on to create the collar.
It uses stockinette stitch and a variety of special stitches that form different texture bands evoking the untamed nature of Patagonia. It is composed of 9 bands or sections: woven stitch, leaves, stems, zig-zag, V-texture, branches, waves, flowers, and crossed stitches. You will find combinations of elongated and slipped stitches, along with horizontal braids that separate each section.
Sizes:Â
Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4), (5, 6, 7, 8) correspond to 81 (92, 102, 112) (122, 132, 142, 150) cm around the chest circumference. The sizes represent the measurements of the finished and blocked garment, at the chest circumference. The design includes 5 cm of positive ease, so the measurements you will see in the table include it. You can use the measurements indicated in the table to choose your size.

Paulina describes Tejer La Trama, her brand, as: "I coined this concept as my social media name because I deeply believe that knitting isn't just about bringing a garment or an accessory to life. Knitting is about weaving a framework that tells a story. Your own story and the story of those around you. It's about building a warp that sustains us and tells us who we are."

The history of your threads
The history of your threads
In Chilean Patagonia, dedicated producers with over 30 years of experience produce this highest quality wool.
The sheep live on free-range pastures, which preserves the grasslands, and are free from animal cruelty. Our products are 100% Mulesing-free.
Our wool is hand-washed and spun on a small scale by expert natural fiber artisans in the city of Talca.
Then it continues its journey to Bagual, where it is dyed with ecological dyes
free of heavy metals to protect your skin, your loved ones, and the environment. Our vibrant colors enhance the texture and properties of these yarns in your garments.

This is a semi-industrial product where multiple steps are done by hand. We want you to know that you might find small pieces of vegetable matter in your yarn, as well as a little bit of sand when you wind it. Both come from the Patagonian grasslands. (We told you these sheep like to rub themselves in sandbanks ðŸ¤).
Our wool is spun in a semi-industrial mill, and you might find some irregularities in thickness and twist in your yarn. We like it; it gives identity and texture and makes each garment unique.
Your skeins are hand-dyed, resulting in semi-solid and variegated colors. We suggest buying all the skeins for your project at the same time and alternating skeins while knitting if you want to avoid pooling in your garments.
